Postnatal Yoga – Supporting the new parent’s journey

    January 31-February 2, 2025

    Friday 5:30-9:30 / Saturday & Sunday: 8am-5pm

The process of childbirth completely transforms and opens people up to a new self. Many new parents face the vulnerable, yet beautiful task of rediscovering who they are as parents after the metamorphosis of birth.  In a collective culture that prioritizes “getting back to your old self”, postpartum yoga, including baby and me classes, offer a safe, sacred space for new parents to take a slower and connected approach in discovering their new parent self.

In this module participants will explore the sacred time of the postpartum period. Students will gain an understanding of how to support new parents in connecting not only to their changing self and baby, but also ways to connect postpartum students to their community as a whole. Participants will explore:

    • The immediate postpartum experience
    • Supporting the fourth trimester
    • Perinatal mood disorders
    • Ayurveda for the postpartum parent
    • Postpartum anatomy and physiology
    • Yoga asana for the postpartum body
    • Class type, structure, and sequencing for postpartum parents
    • Meditation, mantra, and pranayama for postpartum students
    • Baby development over the first year
    • Infant massage and circle time songs
    • The business of perinatal yoga
    • An overall confidence in leading safe and connected postpartum classes
