If you’ve ever experienced knee or hip pain, due to an injury or a pain condition such as arthritis, bursitis, etc., you know how problematic every day activities can feel. You also know how the fear of further injury or increased pain can lead to “babying” a painful knee or hip. This then often results in reduced function and a downward spiral into completely immobilizing yourself and exacerbating the condition! Fortunately yoga offers many tools to create space and relieve pain in the knees and hips. In this course you will explore yoga postures that will allow you to safely strengthen and stretch the muscles around the hips in order to address your full range of motion within the joint, and in effect, protect the knees. You will also practice breath work, mindfulness meditation and body awareness techniques that will help you to manage chronic pain.
